Fostering Creativity

Ignite your creative spirit and visit the Baldessin Press exhibition in Monsalvat. Inspiration, passion and the empowerment to express; these are all things that human beings need to survive but so often discouragement, listlessness and depression is our modern reality. Don't you often wish there was someplace you could retreat? A supportive environment where creativity is harnessed and fostered?

Such was the vision of George Baldessin, leading to his establishment of Baldessin Press in St Andrews. The new exhibition at Monsalvatt features this history and the creative work and vision that has come out of Baldessin Press studio.

The Window of Opportunity
Open from Saturday 27 July, 7 am until Sunday 11 September, 5pm, this is a welcoming that could change your life. Just learning a little more of George Baldessin and Baldessin Press located in St Andrews has filled me with excitement. At the exhibition, you can see the artists' work, written interviews and video of them creating the artwork. It is both fascinating and it makes you thirsty create yourself. It is evident just how immensely life healing art is. George Baldessin's short life has left behind a legacy enriching many others.

George Baldessin
George Baldessin was a charismatic, Italian Australian artist known for his generosity and encouragement to other artists creativity. Tess Edwards Baldessin restored and reopened George Baldessin's original Bluestone studio in 2001. Today this site, where he did his etching, has become a vibrant haven for expression. The exhibition allows you to see how others have flourished through art, but if this inspires you, there is also information about the classes they run in printmaking and etching.

The Baldessin Press
The Baldessin Press is not for profit, considering greater reward in seeing other's flourish. They offer every possible embrace to artists including artist residencies, retreats and classes. The studio offers open access to experienced artists to work on their work with private tuition possible on arrangement.

The Exhibition
The Baldessin Press Exhibition is a great chance to see the amazing wealth of ideas that have spiralled out of the studio over the years. Seeing this curated collection all together forms a unified testament to the value of George Baldessin's vision for an environment where artists could be liberated artistically by encouragement.

Value
Value this exhibition for more than just a chance to see the art and learn the history, value it as a statement of how much more enriched life and work can be when the philosophy surrounding its creation is one of respect, unlimited possibility and encouragement.

The Exhibition Experience
What I most loved about this exhibition was getting to see all the diverse techniques the artists had used in order to create the effect of their art. Nature and Imagination were both represented in the work and you could easily spend a long time taking it all in.

Monstalvat
This space is perfect to feature the Baldessin Press as it reflects the natural setting of their home in St Andrews at a slightly more convenient distance from the city. Don't miss this great chance to immerse yourself in another world of imagination and creativity. Monstalvat has a great restaurant and there are many good cafes in Eltham so you could easily make a lovely day of it.
