Describing what takes place during a session with Balance Central is not an easy task. The owner of the business, Chris Wildeboer is an experienced RAW (Rekindled Ancient Wisdom) consultant, who describes her role as helping people achieve greater conscious awareness.
RAW uses muscle testing and aims to identify where a person is holding his or her energy and then disperse it, or help the individual let it go. It draws on the ancient wisdom that each of us have within ourselves to facilitate the balancing process and heal ourselves.
RAW was developed in Australia by Pam Myers and Sally Worth and has since begun to spread to other countries around the world.
In trying to identify why people go to Balance Central, I asked Chris about the type of 'complaints' people have when they arrive. Well, even that is not a simple question. Chris says that people come in for a variety of reasons. Often they are focused on wanting to move on from an emotion or trauma that seems to be holding them back. They may feel mentally and emotionally drained or instead of responding to emotionally charged situations, find themselves reacting almost uncontrollably. Other people may have a physical problem, such as insomnia or over-eating. When people find that they want to move through these issues quicker, RAW supports them as they work through the challenges.
People often come in with a conscious issue, and have no clue what is associated with that issue," says Chris. "But they don't have to verbalise what has brought them to me because I am working with their energy. In fact, what they come in with is really just an interpretation, or their reflection, of what's going on. The RAW process relies on muscle testing, which reveals what the energy really regards as a priority."
Chris does face to face balancing, as well as remote consultations. The second option is for people, including children, who cannot or prefer not to consult with her face-to-face. The process is essentially the same as a face to face consultation. Chris does the muscle testing in her room, in that case without the individual present, and then discusses with the person on the phone what the testing has revealed.
I visited Chris at her room in Boondall. It's a quiet, private place with a serene atmosphere. We chatted initially about what had brought me to Balance Central, and then we began the process. She started by very lightly (almost unnoticeably) touching access points on my arms, legs and tummy area. After that I essentially sat back and listened, apart from occasionally looking at cards on which symbols were printed. There was certainly nothing scary or invasive about the process.
Chris does the muscle testing and during the process identifies various aspects from a large number of lists of information. As she read out specific information from the files during my balancing, I experienced a number of 'ah-ha' moments. I knew the relevance of many of the aspects that were identified, either immediately or subsequently during the balancing process.
When I left Balance Central I had a sense of some of the main things that had come up, but, as there was quite a lot of information, some aspects were a bit vague in my memory. Unlike many other processes, I did not leave with a list of things that had come up or that I needed to work on or deal with. I found that aspect a little disconcerting at first – I had been through the process, and now felt like I had to sit back and wait for something to happen! That is because the essence of RAW is that the energy blockages are rebalanced during the consultation.
So what did happen? Well, initially nothing. Then there were some almost imperceptible things I started to notice, and that I couldn't attribute to anything else. Over a couple of weeks there were some changes in my relationships with others and my reactions to situations were different to what they had been previously. Ten days after my consultation I had a conversation with someone that was so different in the way we both spoke to one another than many of those that we've had for months.
Chris says that people have a variety of responses to a RAW consultation: "Some people have subtle changes, whereas other people might experience a massive moment," says Chris. Some clients also combine RAW with other therapies, both traditional, such as physiotherapy, and complementary, such as neuro-linguistic programming (NLP).
You can also hear Chris talking about the process at Balance Central in this video.
Chris started learning kinesiology and other complementary techniques in 1995. However, she discovered RAW 13 years ago and it has been her modality of choice ever since. In 2009 she opened Balance Central and continues her work with RAW through her business.
Balance Central is known by a dragonfly motif. Says Chris: "The dragonfly became part of the business as it is a great representation of what happens at Balance Central. The dragonfly's scurrying flight across water represents an act of going beyond what's on the surface and looking into the deeper implications and aspects of life."
