Located in the historical area of Sydney, the Bakers Oven Cafe has a charming character.

Viewing from outside the cafe, it looks like a little cafe simply selling cakes and slices. Upon stepping in the cafe and walking through the hallway, I was impressed with a small room housing a small number of booth seats on one side, and the outdoor courtyard on the other side.

As I always love visiting a place in an old style setting, I was immediately attracted to this little room - surrounded by old brick walls, an old fire place (though it is more for decorative purposes now), and natural light cut through from the rooftop windows. Adding to the ambience, there are photographs of the shops and its surrounding area in the old days.

Once I settled myself into a booth seat, I was served attentively. The cake and a cup of coffee were delivered fairly quickly to my table. While the coffee was average, the cake was well presented and delicious. The price is a bit premium but I love the atmosphere very much.

If you happen to wander around the Rocks area, why not just try out the Bakers Oven Cafe as the cafe has a good selection of cakes and slices that whet your appetite.
