Let them eat cake! And bread, and hot cross buns and other rising stars. The final weekend of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is all about baking. Baker's Dozen is a free event held at Federation Square. It was such a success last year that 13 of Melbourne’s most sought-after cakers and bakers are bringing in their creations.

Melbourne is rising with so many bakers taking off. This event brings together some of the finest bakers, pâtissiers and Viennoiserie-creators (that's breakfast pastries from around Melbourne and beyond.



While the market is free I do think you will probably be tempted to buy a few morsels. Let's hope there are some free samples to taste. Expect Antara 128, Baker Bleu, Black Star Pastry, Bread Club, Falco, The Flour, Madeleine de Proust, Mali Bakes, Mietta by Rosemary, Monforte Viennoiserie, Tarts Anon, and To Be Frank.



And before you say "I'm gluten-free" Kudo a GF bakery will be there as well. Indulge in a world of crullers, cheesecakes, canelés, tarts, salted dark chocolate financiers, a Bread Club x Manzé pie collab, wattleseed teacake and a gianduja babka.



As for hot, cross buns they will be running away like hotcakes. What a way to stock up for Easter which is the following weekend.
