The annual Bairro Português festival that celebrates Portuguese culture is taking place on Sunday 19 March 2023, 11am-4pm.
Celebrations will descend on Audley Street and Fisher Street in Petersham, the suburb also known as Little Portugal. Immerse yourself in entertainment, music, dancing, cultural activities and of course, delicious food and sangria.

Petersham has a thriving Portuguese community that has made it a food lovers' destination. You only need to step into the boutique pastry shop
Sweet Belem for a pastel de nata (Portuguese custard tart) or pick up the famous charcoal chicken at
Frangos to see that the inner western suburb has embraced the passionate locals of the green and red.
Having been one of the earliest Europeans to settle in Australia, the small country has made a presence through their shared love of soccer, coffee, coastal life and warm hospitality. There is also much to enjoy about Portuguese culture that is uniquely different - from traditional folk dancing to passionate Fado music and sweet port wine.
In March, join in the festivities to discover more of what makes Portuguese culture so enticing.
Program details to be announced shortly.
