Celebrating the history and vibrancy of Australia's First Nations culture, Badu Gili: Wonder Women is a creative collaboration between the Sydney Opera House and the Art Gallery of NSW to mark the 150th anniversary of the Gallery.

The new animation of artworks bring a touch of Vivid to the sails of the Opera House, weaving together the works and stories of 6 female Indigenous artists from around Australia - Kaylene Whiskey, Elaine Russell, Marlene Rubuntja, Judith Inkamala, Sally M Nangala Mulda and Marlene Gilson.



Curated by Coby Edgar, this cultural experience for both locals and visitors aims to foster a shared sense of belonging for all Australians as it lights up nightly on the Eastern sails. The spectacular projection runs for 6mins from sunset (hourly, although times may change with the season and Forecourt events) and is best viewed from the Monumental Steps to the Podium.

Free to enjoy, Badu Gili means 'water light' in the language of the traditional owners of Bennelong Point (the Gadigal people) and is very fitting for the harbour location which has been a meeting point for communities long before the Opera House was erected.



But wait, there's more. Badu Gili Live, a free outdoor live music series, will see performers transforming the Opera House steps into their stage whilst the sails projection lights up in the backdrop. Taking place on selected dates, the May and June line-up should be announced soon. You can check here for updates.

As well as enjoying this mesmerising digital art display, make the most of your evening by joining a tour of the Opera House, seeing a show and delighting in a meal at one of many restaurants lining the waterfront. The Bennelong Restaurant even has a special Badu Gili mocktail saluting the Wonder Women.
