Bacon all the rules for a cracklin’ good time
WARNING – This is not for the health conscious
Fans of bacon and beer will unite and delight in this festival celebrating all that these favourites' encompass. This cured pork meat is no longer just a side to eggs and sausages but engrained in desserts, sauces and even mints. Yes, there are bacon-flavoured mints you can purchase. Beer has made its way into dishes too and has been combined with bacon into a beer-candied bacon.
Taking place at the urban village of Central Park in Chippendale, affectionately known as 'the living mall' because of the greenery both inside and outside, this downtown destination will feature everything from bacon toothpaste and shampoo to maple bacon, bourbon bacon, bacon steak, bacon shakes and bacon cocktails. It's bacon all the rules with over 45 stall holders participating, including Black Star Pastry, Bovine & Swine, Adriano Zumbo,Textbook Boulangerie-Patisserie, N2 Extreme Gelato, Brewristas, Dragonfly Foods, Grumpy Donuts, The Stinking Bishops Cheese, The Pig Baron and The Vogue Cafe.
Bacon waffle from Cuckoo Callay
Bacon buffs can pair their food with boutique craft beers from Ramblin' Rascal Tavern, take part in a bacon eating competition, enjoy beer 'n' bacon workshops and cooking demonstrations. Live music and roving entertainers will enhance the vibe.
A short stroll from Central Station, this venue for shopping, living and working has fashion, homewares, dining, art spaces, apartments, offices, and more. The park behind it, Chippendale Green, and The Ambush Gallery (celebrating its 8th year in the village) will feature in events here along with many of the restaurants and cafes.
Brought to you by quirky cafe Cuckoo Callay, tickets for this one day fest are $25 for Early Bird and $30 for General Admission, plus booking fee. Kids under 12 are free. You can purchase through Moshtix. Your ticket includes delicious bacon dishes, beer and bacon tastings, workshops and you may even score some wacky, bacon-themed merchandise.
