Backyard Theatre Collective wowed audiences in Perth, and have now moved on to Adelaide Fringe, so if you missed out and are hoping they'll be back for Fringe 2021, or are able to see them in Adelaide now, this is the review for you!
Backyard Theatre Collective put on two totally unique shows this Fringe, so depending on what your personal flavour of theatre is, you'll surely enjoy the fruits of their labour!
The night began with Boys Taste Better with Nutella, a quirky, messy, oddball comedy about two friends woeful dating life and their binge eating crutches. If you love goofy kitsch dance moves, millennia dating drama, Nutella and fries, then this is the show for you.
My best friend adored this show, but it was personally a little too OTT for me, but that, of course, comes down to personal taste and the Fringe World experience you are after.
That being said, the actors did a great job with what they set out to do, and it's not at all an experience you'll forget!
The Wives of Wolfgang was show number two, a sexy, artful cabaret piece that follows the grieving widow left following Wolfgang's death. The storytelling was captivating, each scene punctuated by original, live music, and the actors' voices were just beautiful.
I am always a lover of a tastefully sexy show, and this was right on the money. An excellent choice if you enjoy a more artsy-experience at Fringe, I would 100% recommend.
