Backpackers are inexpensive places to spend a couple of nights, favoured by students and young travellers. They are also famous for their funky social atmosphere. You can meet people from all over the world in backpackers and have a great time, but you have to be ready to sacrifice some degree of comfort. All backpackers in Brisbane are different: each place has its own features and unique atmosphere. For this reason it is very important to choose a right for you place.


If you prefer to stay in a quiet place and have a good sleep at night, located in the West End Brisbane Backpackers is a good choice. With reasonably clean rooms and moderate prices this hostel has a range of facilities, bar and shuttle bus to the City.

Those who love parties every night will be happy at Bunk backpackers in Fortitude Valley. Team up with the single-minded fellows and go for a meal and drink deals in the Bunk's bar, take part in the drinking competitions or go dancing in one of the Valley night clubs. There are a plenty of room options available including the loft apartments with own kitchen and double bed.

If you are on the budget, Somewhere to Stay is the cheapest backpackers in Brisbane. Besides its price, this place is well-known for its lovely atmosphere. It is located in the West End and offers a free shuttle bus to the City and back.
There are many backpackers in the City, the most popular are Base Central and Base Embassy . If you have ever stayed at Base in other cities in Australia or New Zealand, you already know what to expect. The prices are pretty competitive, the rooms are reasonably clean, all facilities are present and Base Central has a great bar down with cheap meals and entertainment 7 days a week.

TinBilly is another CBD located backpackers. The rooms are a little bit pricy, but all have en suite. When booking a room, make sure it is on the 3-4 level, if you do not want listen to the music from the bar down.

Only 300 m from transit centre Cloud9 Backpackers is a new hostel with good room rates. Among the standard facilities, there is a roof top desk with a 360 degrees City view. Similar hostels are Chill Backpackers and Woodduck Backpackers .

Banana Benders is located within walking distance from Transit centre and has maximum 4-6 share dorms for competitive prices. It is definitely not a party place and most people are staying there for a long term. The hostel offers a standard range of facilities, but Internet is not free.

Another good for a long-term stay hostel is Brisbane City Backpackers , only 15-20 minutes walking from the CBD. It offers good room rates and a standard range of facilities including solar heated pool and own bar. Guests can use unlimited WI-FI Internet at no cost.

For those who prefer not to save on the comfort, YHA
is a good choice. Managed with YHA standards it is a clean modern hostel with pool and outdoor patio area. However, room rates are higher than average.
