Hold on to your Flux Capacitor! Because we're fast approaching one of the most anticipated dates in science fiction history. October 21, 2015 - the date Marty McFly and Doctor Emmett Brown travel to in Back To The Future Part II.
Great Scott! October 21, 2015 is Back To The Future Day. Time to get ready.
Of course, if your are a true fan of the Steven Spielberg series, then that date's permanently burned into your memory. You've been eagerly anticipating Marty's arrival since the film first hit the big screen in 1989. Of course, if your knowledge of the product is limited, you may have been fooled before. There's even a website out there dedicated to fooling people into thinking the present day is 'Back To The Future Day'. Check it out here.
It's almost time
Now those future scenes in the film set the standard for what's expected in 2015. There's a lot to catch up on if we're going to be prepared in time. I mean, where are the hoverboards? Where's Jaws 19? What about those TV glasses? One futuristic item that may just make it in time - self-tying laces. That's right, Nike's attempting to create a pair of sneakers that will tighten themselves. Very cool.
Now how exactly does one celebrate such a momentous occasion? October 21, 2015 is a Wednesday unfortunately, but don't let that stop you from throwing a party! There are already people preparing on Facebook. Whatever you do, fancy dress is a must. Hit your local OP shop to find that fresh 1980s look. If you are a master of the sewing machine, why not try stitching together a replica of Marty's orange quilted vest.
Be sure to hassle your local cinemas well in advance, petitioning them for a trilogy screening of the Back To The Future trilogy. If not, stay in at home with some dehydrated food (if it's around by then) and watch the movie with friends. That way, you'll always remember where you where when Marty McFly visited the future.
Sure, it sounds silly, but a lot of people have been looking forward to this date for a long time now. Whether you're a fan of the films or not, I bet somehow, someway, you'll get caught up in the hype on October 21, 2015. Great Scott!
