Bacchus and Venus do Valentine's Day

In ancient Rome, Bacchus was the god everybody called on when they went looking for a good time. In a similar vein, Venus was the go-to gal for making sure you found the perfect person with whom to share those good times. So, it's fitting for Bacchus and Venus to team up this Valentine's Day and put on a party you and your one true love are not going to forget.

Bacchus, while no longer a deity has been re-invented here in the Redlands as The Bacchus Brewing Co at 2 Christine Place, Capalaba. In this form, Bacchus brews around 150 new and different beers a year so he is still more than capable of organising a really divine good time for you and your one true love. This is all going to happen on Saturday 14 February, 2015 starting at 12.00 midday and finishing at 7.00pm.



Even if Venus hasn't been kind to you up 'till now, don't despair; you can still join in and have some fun. In fact, you could get lucky and on the day when Venus works her wiles and puts you together with your dream Valentine. Just remember, 'Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder' and things become a lot better when you're enjoying yourself. Bring your friends or just yourself, when the party starts you might as well be there and enjoy yourself whatever your circumstances.

In order to live up to his Roman reputation, Bacchus has brewed up a special batch of 18 fruit sours using the traditional German process known as Berliner Weisse. The sours will be available in 500ml bottles priced especially for Valentine's Day at $10 each. The Fruit Sours available on Valentine's Day will be: Atomic Blackcurrant, Atomic Blood Orange, Atomic Blackberry, Atomic Blueberry, Atomic Cranberry, Atomic Lime (whole), Atomic Boysenberry, Atomic Strawberry, Atomic Kakadu, Atomic Redcurrant, Atomic Mango, Atomic Mixed Berry, Atomic Passion-fruit, Atomic Raspberry, Atomic Pomegranate, Atomic Sour Cherry, Atomic Sweet Cherry and Saudi Grapes II.



You are encouraged to bottle share with your special friend as this enables you to sample a wider selection. If, by chance, fruit sours are not your thing (you've got to try one no matter what) you can still partake from the selection of 14 beers and one cider always available on tap at the Bacchus Brewery bar. Or, if you are impossible to please, you can still make a selection from the wide variety of bottled beers always on hand. Available beers change daily but you might be able to sample the Gold Medal winning beer, Sex, Drugs and Rocky Road or, if you like lamingtons why not try their Lamington Dark Ale? Whatever you like there's got to be a beer for you!



Prices for glasses range from $5 to $12 each depending on glass size and brew. It is also possible to purchase a Growler – a 1.89l container – for $10. A Growler can be re-filled for take-away sales over and over again with your favourite beer from $20 to $30. Have a look at the big, big bottles in the fridge photo – they're the Growlers.

In the likely event you can't make up your mind which to try first, ask for a Tasting Paddle and get 5 small beers of your choice for $20.



Bacchus has not forgotten about all you designated drivers. Gluten free, Alchemy Cordials are also available. While these cordials have a real kick, it's all flavour and no alcohol.

But Valentine's Day parties are not just about drinking delicious beer – 99%, yes but not completely! To top off the occasion Bacchus has arranged for the Char Baby BBQ Food Truck to come along to add to the good time. Char Baby will dispense tasty bar-b-que morsels that are sure to please. Take your pick of spicy, sour, sweet, soft, salty, smooth, crunchy, chewy, juicy and from the chin wipeingly delicious gourmet food. Nicole, the chef, always likes to mix it up a bit so she'll have at least five grilled fares from different world cuisines for your eating pleasure.
