Bucchus Restaurant Brisbane

Last week I had the great fortune to sample Bacchus Restaurant fine cuisine At The Pass.

Head Chef Massimo Speroni presented The Egg Degustation Menu which is currently available for a limited season. If you are looking for an indulgent Easter dinner, the hunt is over.

The Menu Massimo has created is far more than a superb meal; it is a spectacular work of art. Creative, decadent, delicacies such as these place Bacchus in a league of their own.

Bacchus provides unique food experiences, a beautifully atmospheric space and excellent service. The perfect setting for life's big moments and celebrations.

You only need to spend five minutes with Sommelier Andrew Giblin to understand that Bacchus is dedicated to carving out their own lane. When you order the house wine you are not by any means ordering an inferior product. Bacchus has partnered with winemakers from the Barossa Valley and Margaret River, cultivating strong working relationships to provide the highest quality wines to offer their valued patrons. I very much enjoyed their Shiraz and Chardonnay.

Bacchus is also a Cheese lover's dream. With a selection of 38 different cheeses, this is the place to have all your Cheese and Wine catch ups. The selection includes French, English, Dutch, American, Spanish and Vegan Cheeses, just to name a few. I tried several and am more than willing to sample the rest. This impressive selection can be perfectly paired with a flavour matched wine.

Bacchus Egg Degustation

The Egg Degustation inspired by the history of the traditional Easter 'egg' is as creative as it is delicious. A timely reminder of why dining at Bacchus is a desirable experience.

Blini
Next was the first course, served with Sour Cream and Sterling Caviar. Blini is a Russian style pancake. Here is a fun fact: In pre-Christian times, for the Slavic people, the blini was symbolic the sun. They prepared it at the end of winter to celebrate its rebirth. The Orthodox Church adopted the tradition and now it's almost representative of the life cycle. Used not only to celebrate new life, but it's become a comforting feast staple at Russian funerals. A perfect starter to an Easter degustation wouldn't you say?

Scampi
Hailing from Western Australia, these heavenly crustaceans were served with blue caviar, cucumber water and powdered shell.

Asparagus

My tastebuds celebrated victory with every bite of this gorgeous dish. Asparagus has found its flavour pairing with the humble egg served boiled, cured and poached.

Duck
A rich braised duck leg accompanied with a large sous vide cooked duck egg. Topped with Parsnip Foam and Black Garlic Jus to create a deliciously smooth food experience you won't soon forget.

Raviolo
Traditionally a comfort dish, consider the Raviolo reinvented. When your knife cuts through the large Raviolo a runny Egg yolk greets you with Ricotta, Spinach and Black Truffle. It's absolutely bursting with flavour. This particular dish is special to Head Chef Speroni. It is a tribute to Valentino Marcattillii, his mentor, who is the owner of San Domenico Restaurant in Italy.

Rabbit

Delish! This rich flavoured dish was mouth-watering. Served with Jerusalem Artichoke, Sauteed Mushrooms and Jus with just the right amount of Ginger.

Dessert

Dessert was EGGcellently disguised! You may think the picture below is of a nested EGG but in fact, it's an oval-shaped Mouse, served with fresh Cheese made with Camel Milk. Passionfruit Jelly yolk on a nest of decadent chocolate.
