In his continuing quest to celebrate the life and times of when us baby Boomers rocked Adelaide during the 60's and 70's, Promoter and former radio DJ, Jim Slade, has once again arranged an exciting live musical event with ROB E. G. to perform and be interviewed on Thursday 22nd March, at the Norwood Hotel Function Centre, 97 The Parade, Norwood.

The ROB E.G. BEHIND THE #1 HITS SHOW promises to be a very special event, as Robie will include every Number 1 Hit that he either performed, wrote, published, or produced for himself, or other iconic artists such as Marcia Hines, Daddy Cool, Rick Springfield, Colleen Hewett, Air Supply, Tommy Emmanuel, Hush, and Andy Upton, along with some Top 10 Hits.
Many of us Senior Baby Boomers will remember ROB E.G. playing his steel guitar on national weekly programs such as BANDSTAND and JOK's SIX O'CLOCK ROCK. These were exciting times, as we proved again, and again, we not only had world class artists in Australia, but we could also produce top TV programs to promote our homegrown top-shelf talent. The US had their DUANE EDDY and THE VENTURES, and the Brits had THE SHADOWS, but we in OZ had our own instrumental hitmaker, ROB E.G. and his steel guitar with hits like 55 Days at Peking, Jezebel, Si Senor, Sleepwalk as well as his first Top 10 Hit: Whiplash.
Robie will be playing his own instrumental hits, as well as his own first Top 10 Vocal Hit: When you're not near.
Accompanying Robie will be a fantastic line-up of accompanying musicians: GARY BURROWS, ROB PIPPAN, JOHN BYWATERS and RUSSELL MC CORMICK.
Included in the show are 2 Very Special Guest Singers from Adelaide: ANDY UPTON, and NANETTE VAN RUITEN. Many of you may know ROB E.G. produced the #1 Hit with Andy: Stop in The World of Love. This event is also a special occasion as it will be Andy's and Robie's reunion after many years. Andy will also be singing Stop in The World of Love with some backup vocals from Nanette and Robie. Andy will also be singing Rick Springfield's monster Worldwide #1: "Jessie's Girl." Nanette will be singing some of Robbie's Gold Single #1 Hits he produced with Marcia, and Colleen: You, and Dreaming My Dreams With You. Nanette will join Robie to sing the hit single recorded by Marcia: I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself.
Robie will also be singing, with Andy, Nanette and The Superstar Band members singing back-up (and Yes! with All of us, (the audience) singing along! Robie also produced the first Number 1 Hit, Eagle Rock with DADDY COOL, which became "Australia's Rock Anthem", also voted "The Number 1 Australian Hit Record of All-Time", and named "The Number 1 Hit of the Twentieth Century" in The Kent Report. Eagle Rock was the only record to be Number 1 for 17 weeks.
During Jim's interview segment, Robbie will also be revealing secrets behind some of the Number 1 singles and albums he has produced. Robbie was extremely lucky to have had over 30 of them, with 9 different Australian artists. He will be covering a lot of territory as the repertoire will include the playing of No: 1 Hits as well as Top 10 Hits of Rob E.G. and Robie Porter.
This Baby Boomers Rock Adelaide event is truly a fantastic opportunity to see a great Australian artist, as ROB E.G. has not performed in Adelaide in decades, and consequently, he is very much looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible, talking with you and taking photos with you after the show.
To avoid disappointment booking is advisable. This show will be a sell-out.
Tickets are $25 plus booking fee or contact Jackie MacDonald on 0411 664 026.
