After living in Bacchus Marsh for nearly 18 months I am slowly trying every eatery around town. Finally I went to the Baby Black cafe. It is nestled in front of the local KFC, opposite the McDonalds and on a corner of a roundabout. It is any wonder it took me a while to find it.

Firstly as you walk in, you pass a room that looks like your nanna's kitchen. Through the main area where you see a display of savoury and sweet treats. Then you can venture outside to their rustic courtyard.

And once you're out there you feel like you are in a combination of Fitzroy street student hang out meets Dandenong's Devonshire tea house. So there is something for everyone, especially the lovely food treats. Which I believe change daily. There are no printed menus.

My first visit's initiation involved had the most beautiful banana cake, along with a cup of tea. But for those coffee lovers I have heard their coffee is superb. The next time my husband had their homemade sausage roll, I have to say I had a taste, and normally I don't like sausage rolls, but this was scrumptious.

For some reason they don't like to advertise, not even times on the door! So I can't even exactly state when they are open. I hazard to guess every day during the day, and every now and again they even have live entertainment, apparently in the Saturday evenings. The only night according to Urbanspoon that they are open for dinner. It all lends itself to the magical quaintness.
