I am a firm believer in the adage that any children's activity isn't worth doing, unless there's a pay off for me. The Babies Proms series is great for both young and old - this current prom, running until the 23rd September is Nursery Rhymes, covering many favorites for the littlies.

The Proms expose children, ideally between 2 - 5, to live music and performance, in an easy, stress-free way. Prams are left at door (so think how you want to carry babies). Children can sit on the floor, while adults sit on the seats. If adults sit on the floor, please be mindful of little children sitting behind you - sit to the side or let the little children in front of you, as that is who the performance is for.

The upside for the adult is that it's in our wonderful Opera House, on our beautiful harbour.

The Opera House is quite a treat for the children too! Go early and take some time to explore it.

You get a discount on the parking if you validate your tickets (ask at cloak room), so you can take some time and enjoy the views over a coffee or lunch - there are some sensational food options on the concourse...as the weather turned on us, and my wee companion wanted chips, I went with the Wagyu burger but the sushi is usually my recommendation.

Enjoyable outing for all ages!
