The Victorian Youth Theatre heads up a hog-tastic family friendly theatre production in the spring school holidays that will have you snorting out a laugh and possibly shed a tear or two.

Held at the Parkville Guild Theatre for a strictly limited season from 30 September 30 to 3 October 2015, BABE The Sheep-Pig is an on stage version of the movie BABE.

You may recall watching the film version of BABE many years ago, but did you know the award winning comedy-drama is 20 years old this year?

To coincide with the 20th anniversary of BABE the movie, the Victorian Youth Theatre presents BABE The Sheep-Pig. The theatre production follows the same story based on the 1983 best selling children's book The Sheep-Pig, which inspired the famed movie.

BABE The Sheep-Pig stars farmyard characters in an adventure that follows a gallant pig (Babe) as he proves himself to be a hero when protecting his owner Father Hogget and his sheep. In an usual turn of events, Farmer Hogget decides to train Babe to become a sheepdog, or rather sheep-pig. Babe's herding techniques prove somewhat usual.

Victorian Youth Theatre's cast will see 17 year old Madeleine Horsey play the lead role of Babe, 19 year old TJ Lawson as Farmer Hoggett and 16 year old Courtney Martyn as Mrs Hoggett.

The Victorian Youth Theatre (VYT) runs high quality performing arts classes for young folk aged between 8 and 18 years. The VYT, established in 1984, teaches classes at thirteen locations around Melbourne. The VYT regularly perform reasonably priced shows in front of a public audience.
