I really enjoy going out and eating a meal with my husband. A couple good reasons to do so is that I get to spend precious time with my husband and neither of us has to cook or clean up.

Our favourite cuisine is Thai. So when we had the opportunity to dine out last week, where did we choose to go? We chose to try one of our local Thai restaurant, Baan Phaya Thai in Redcliffe.
When we were comfortably seated in this small and intimate restaurant in Redcliffe, we spoke about the reasons why we love eating at Thai restaurants.

What are some of the reasons we love Thai so much and did this last restaurant live up to those things?

1. There is usually a Thai Restaurant close by.
My husband and I travel a lot within the greater Brisbane area for our son's football. Most suburbs have a great local Thai restaurant just waiting to be tried.

2. Most Thai Restaurants are BYO
My husband and I enjoy a glass or two of wine when dining out, and most if not all of the Thai restaurants that we have eaten at are BYO. This makes the dining out experience a relatively cheaper night out. We have found that only about half of the restaurants that we have been at charge corkage, which normally is $2-$3 per person. Baan Phaya Thai on this night actually didn't charge for corkage - bonus!

We enjoyed our Sauvignon Blanc with a nice entree of Crispy Coconut Prawns ($9.90) while waiting for our mains.

3. Most open up around 5pm
Baan Phaya Thai in Redcliffe opened for dinner at 4.30pm, so great for an early dinner and for pre-game/event dining. Normally my husband and I find ourselves one of the first customers and this is good as we then can just walk in and choose our seats with no reservations. We had an intimate window seat here at Baan Phaya and were able to enjoy a private conversation even though the restaurant quickly became quite busy with dine-in and takeaway customers.

4. Meals made with lots of fresh vegetables
This reason is quite important for me as I love my vegetables and most of the dishes that we choose from the menu at Thai restaurants include fresh and healthy vegetables making most dishes quite colourful.

We weren't disappointed at Baan Phaya Thai here in Redcliffe. Our meal choices this night were Basil and Chilli Sauce with Fish Fillets (crispy fish fillet stir fry with chilli and chilli jam with bamboo shoots and mixed vegetables, $20.90) and Gang Massaman Lamb (rich aromatic slowly cooked mild curry of the south of Thailand with coconut milk, $18.90).

5. Varied menu option with great tastes and spicy flavours
Most of the dishes can be made to taste in regards to spice, ranging from Mild to Thai Hot. We always ask for Thai hot as we love our spicy food. Our dishes this night were made to order and tasted great.

So did this restaurant meet our expectations? It certainly did, along with friendly and efficient staff who attended to us as needed even though they were busy with takeaway and walk-in diners.

And will we choose to dine again here? Yes, if we have the opportunity. It is close to home. It is located along Anzac Avenue, also quite close to the Redcliffe hospital. Parking was plentiful and right out front of the restaurant. It is opened 7 days a week for dinner and opened for lunch Tuesday to Friday for dine-in, takeaway and delivery (in the Redcliffe area)

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely 'date' and then went and watched a great game of football, even though our son's team didn't come out on top. Overall a great evening.
