The Ayurvedic Diet: Eating for Your Body Type

Ayurveda is the ancient medical system of India that claims to help you understand yourself and help to self heal.

I am going to concentrate on the diet, however Ayervidic has many different qualities, of which you can find out about by following the links at the bottom of the page. Other Elements include exercise, sleep, stress etc.

So why is Ayurveda different from going to a dietician?

Ayurveda does not try and say that everyone needs a special diet depending on there lifestyle or size. Ayurveda simply says that we all fit into three different body types (which they call doshas.) So there is no more, "oh she is so slim, what is she doing that I can not do?" This diet is all about being happy and finding that balance that is right for you. This diet is about being healthy both mentally and physically.

Ayurveda is an ancient solution to our modern-day problems that need quick, effective solutions.

The three dosha include:

Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each dosha has specific characteristics that enable you to determine which body type you are. For example Pitta people are very energetic, fast and wired, Pitta people are passionate, firery and motivated and Kapha people are layed back, sluggish and calm.

From these doshas, you can learn what foods would be best for you in terms of making you feel in balance and have acceptance for yourself. The doshas can also help you to see why you have a certain body type, why your acting in a certain way or even who you would be most compatible with in a relationship.

You can go to a trained physician who will help you to distinguish you body type and help you to get more in tune with yourself and get away from these sleepness night, fad diets and reckless relationships.

I have done one of their Ayerveda programmes myself and it worked very well for me. It only took one day and I have now been following this ancient tradition for two years and it makes me feel very peaceful and tranquil.
