The 2014/2015 kitten season has resulted in the AWL's Wingfield shelter overflowing with lonely and unloved cats and kittens who are desperately looking for a family to love them.
AWL PR & Communications officer says, "This year the demand for our services has increased so drastically that we have had to move many of our adoption cats and kittens to our Edinburgh North facility. This is the first time since 2008 that we have had to open this facility for adoptions which highlights the fact that our life changing services are needed now more than ever!"
The AWL currently have over 80 adult cats and kittens currently waiting for their very own loving homes, 26 of which are currently at the AWL's Edinburgh North facility.
"We hope that by opening the Edinburgh North facility for adoptions, many of these beautiful cats and kittens will find loving homes as it is more easily accessible for those who live further north of the city." Continues Jade
"In the first two months of 2015 we have seen a 14% decrease in the number of cat and kitten adoptions compared to last year. This has meant that many of these beautiful animals are spending more time in our care rather than in the loving homes they deserve."
"Micro-chipping your pet is extremely important as it helps to ensure that if your pet goes missing you can be contacted easily and quickly, alleviating the stress that comes with a searching for a lost pet." Jade concludes.
All animals adopted from the AWL are desexed, micro-chipped, vaccinated and health checked and can be viewed online at awlsa.com.au.
The AWL Wingfield and Edinburgh North shelters are open 10am – 3pm each day for adoptions.
