'Awakening! So It Begins...' Art Exhibition at Art & Design Precinct
The
Art and Design Precinct in West End is starting off the New Year with an exciting new exhibition of local art integrated with an interactive sound display. The inspiration for the exhibition is appropriate for the New Year, being "Awakening", which heralds new beginnings and new ways of seeing. Set in their cosy West End location, visitors will be able to view artworks while listening to an accompanying sound track, especially matched to reflect the artwork and to offer visitors a new visual and auditory experience.
Works by Artist
Froyle Neideck are displayed with their own set of headphones, so that you can listen to specially chosen music while you view the work while, other art works will be accompanied by an especially chosen soundtrack curated by
Lynette Lancini. Other local artists whose work will be on display include
Sue Collecutt,
Michelle Bowden,
Lucy Adams,
Jan Hollingsworth,
Beverley Teske,
Lynda McCormack,
Craig Dalton,
Ian Longworth,
Vivienne Searle and
Monique O'Callaghan. Works will range from paintings, through to photography and digital art.
If you haven't been to visit this gallery yet, it is well worth a look. Exhibitions generally last for two weeks, beginning with a Friday Night Opening Night, which is January 17th for this exhibition. Tickets for opening night cost $10 per person and include a complimentary drink and nibbles. Children under fifteen are free. For the remainder of the exhibition entry is free, but you may find yourself purchasing your own piece of art, partaking of a coffee or browsing the smaller gift and boutique items on sale.
This year the gallery will be introducing a range of new events, including music evenings where you can meet and chat with the performers, such as an "
Intimate evening of music with Amon and Audra" on Saturday 1st February. Also on offer are artist workshops, such as "
Journey Into Abstraction" which will take you through the process of starting out and eventually producing your own abstract masterpiece, which will take place on January 25th. Another interesting event taking place on Wednesday 22 January, will be a kitchen information night with Gem'Appelle Designs which will incorporate cooking demos and product information with the Kitchen Designer Grant Hitchcock there to answer all of your questions. For more information on times and details of these events and others, and for information on ticket purchases, please visit the Gallery's Facebook
