Coffee with a view at Palm Beach
Another Sunday and we have just dropped our son off to get warmed up for his football game and we have an hour to wait until the game begins. This weekend we were down at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast, so we went for a short drive looking for coffee and breakfast.

We ended up at Avvia Cafe and restaurant on the corner of 23rd Avenue and the Gold Coast Highway. It is located within a stone's throw of the beach. We were seated on the back verandah with a good view of the beach and ocean.

Good morning Palm Beach

This nice little cafe claims to prepare meals with locally sourced produce and cooks with fresh herbs grown from their backyard garden. Herbs were grown in a pipe along the fenced courtyard in which you could dine with your 4 legged friend.

My husband ordered haloumi cheese and zucchini frittatas with grilled ciabatta, smoked salmon, crime fraiche, rocket and poached eggs. ($19) He was a little disappointed as he was looking for hash browns, of which they had none, only fresh healthy food. This didn't stop him from devouring the lot.

My choice was smashed avocado, feta and tomato with fresh basil, toasted bread, mushrooms and poached eggs ($16)

I was happy with my choice and the size of our meals saw us through a 90 minute soccer game and then a couple of hours of shopping at Harbour Town.

They had quite a few interesting menu items including the New Orleans style French Toast - cornflake crusted toast with cinnamon and banana frosted sauce.

The food was fresh and very tasty, along with good coffee which was served soon after we ordered it was a very pleasant find for us.

Obviously the locals were aware of the cafe as it was busy during the time we were there. It is also open for lunch and dinner. It is fully licensed and is BYO wine on Wednesday.

It is a place for us to revisit the next time we are down at the Gold Coast. (certainly the next time our son plays down there)
