To successfully complete this often gruelling race is not only a challenge for the competitor, but also for the support crews who follow and support their every move.
Therefore any success as a competitor is also a success for the families and individuals who support them. This is a team effort starting with the preparation of the various crafts, through training days, weekends and the excitement of the competition weekend. This year, there is even a "Rookie Racing Team" who will be raising money for the Telethon Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre. The team is Tim Newton and Luke Buttersfield, who are first time Avon Descent competitors raising money for a worthy cause.
The Avon Descent was on their "bucket list", so they decided to make the adventure a little more worthwhile by raising money for an organisation close to their hearts. Read more about this, and how to donate at this link.
The Descent is run in stages, and you can read all about these and the spectator spots at this link.
