Avoid doing your laundry on the weekend
Laundry seems an inevitable chore that never ends. How can you avoid doing your laundry on the weekends, so that the time can be spent relaxing and enjoying yourself instead?

Here are some tips for avoiding laundry on the weekends:

1. Use a Laundromat

Using a laundromat during the week can save your precious time on the weekends

One of the unique benefits of using a local Laundromat is that you can bring your entire week's washing and load multiple washing machines at the same time. The best laundromats provide front loader washing machines that complete their wash cycle in less than 25 minutes. This means your entire week's washing is complete in less than 25 minutes, rather than all day Saturday and/or Sunday.

Laundromats are often open extended hours or even 24/7, so you can get the laundry done during the week when it suits you.

2. Pre sort using a divided hamper

Using a divided laundry hamper will allow your household to 'pre sort' their dirty laundry pile into lights, darks and delicates. When it's time to wash, instead of digging wildly in the laundry hamper, you can simply grab the correct divider and begin washing without any fuss.

We love these divided laundry hampers from Howards Storage World. They have a heavy duty polyester exterior with laminated wipe clean interior. A family must have!

3. Follow a laundry routine

Sticking to a laundry routine for the week days is a life saver. Combined with the stackable baskets, you can keep the dirty laundry pile under control during the week. For example, you could follow the following routine for weekdays:

Mondays whites & sheets

Tuesdays colours

Wednesdays towels

Thursdays - delicates

4. Use a sorting system

Sorting and distributing the clean clothes can be a time consuming process, particularly if you have many family members. Allocating a basket for each family member can streamline the process of folding, sorting and distributing.

These stackable laundry baskets by Rubbermaid create a unique sorting system. If you have children, adding their name to their basket is a fun way of encouraging them to be responsible for putting their own clothes away. The baskets also nest together to save space when not in use.

More hands helping at laundry time and some simple organisation strategies means less work for you, so that you can relax and enjoy your weekends instead!
