One of the in-house restaurants at Crowne Plaza Mawson Lakes, Aviator Bar offers dishes which cover a wide range of cuisines. Service was efficient, our dishes did not take long to get served after we had placed our order.

The wagyu beef patty of the Mawson Wagyu Burger was juicy and cooked sufficiently to give it a charred flavour. The beetroot relish notably included pepperberry, a native Australian berry, to provide a hint of peppery flavour. Pickles added a tangy taste and the torched Swiss cheese did not taste too creamy. Served with the burger were crisp shoestring fries seasoned with rosemary and an aioli dipping sauce. A nice touch was the burger bun branded with the logo of the restaurant.

It was not apparent from the dish’s name but the style of the Aviator Salad was similar to a Caesar Salad. The slices of smoked chicken were moist and large enough to make eating the dish satisfying. The prosciutto was tender and the cos lettuce leaves were crisp and fresh. Extra crunch was provided by herb croutons, and the poached egg had a lovely runny yolk. Finishing the dish was a creamy dressing and shavings of Parmesan cheese.

While we would have liked the portion size of the Tori Karaage to be a bit bigger, the flesh of the chicken was succulent with a nice crisp coating. It had the background gingery taste that we expect from Karaage Chicken. Makrut (kaffir lime leaf) dust added a touch of its distinctive flavour. The spiciness of the kimchi mayonnaise topping the chicken is suitable for most tastes.

For drinks, diners can choose from a wide range of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks which include a cocktail named after the bar. Diners can choose to sit near the bar or at the dining area for Ember & Vine.
