Do you have a budding flight enthusiast? See below for recommendations of aviation-themed playgrounds and parks in and around Brisbane.

Mortimer Road Park

(Mortimer Road, Acacia Ridge)

Mortimer Road Park boasts a variety of aeronautical inspired equipment, including a large plane shaped play structure and a pedal powered helicopter with realistic sounds. Children will delight in exploring a colourful playground with an accessible viewing platform and a weather station with moveable parts.

In addition, the close proximity of the park to Archerfield Airport provides multiple opportunities for plane spotting.

Porter's Paddock Park

(157 Stanton Road, Tingalpa)

One of five parks that comprise Minnippi Parklands, Porter's Paddock is characterised by its aviation themed equipment, monuments and memorials. An older playground offers a concrete radio control tower, stone bird/plane figures and an amphitheatre.

A newer playground features brightly coloured play equipment, including a metal framed plane structure. This park is also home to the Tingalpa Model Aero Club.

Lobley Park

(Lobley Street, Ipswich)

This aviation themed park provides endless opportunities for imaginative adventures. The highlight of this playground is a large open-backed plane structure. Children will be enthralled by the design of the cockpit area, an impressive collection of steering wheels, buttons, levers and pulleys.

Nearby, a control tower incorporates navigational equipment, radio controls and a screen. Beneath the deck, is a restricted staff area for x-raying luggage.

In keeping with the theme, swing sets are designed to resemble open parachutes and pathways are adorned with sky blue paint and fluffy white clouds.

The plane at Lobley Park is the best with its cockpit. I'm sure this is a favourite with the kids. A well put-together list.
