The $3 million Aviary Creek Park in Aveley opened in May 2018 for all to enjoy. There is lots to keep the whole family entertained in this beautiful parkland setting.

The main playground is surrounded by lakes and oodles of grassed open space; perfect for ball games, picnics, dog walking, bike riding and all social gatherings.

This community space has been designed to support the wellbeing of the local residents through multi-generational play, so the whole family can enjoy spending time together outside in the fresh air.

The giant water wheel is a wonderful centrepiece to the whole area.

A nearby historic water mill was the inspiration for the giant stationary wheel that has two slides for different ability levels plus climbing nets and platforms inside.

There is a good variety of play equipment including traditional swings and a horizontal multi-seated swing.

Some of the equipment is innovative and unique creating a modern spin on the blended historic and nature theme of this one-of-a-kind space.

The flooring in the playground area is a mixture of bark chippings, rubber matting, sand and concrete paths.

The playground area is reasonably big with lots of places to hide and it's not enclosed.

This is definitely a fun-filled space for the kids to play.

There is a sand play area with working water pump and water troughs, which was the busiest area when we visited.

The sand area is the only section of the park with shade sails.

There is seating (covered and uncovered) throughout the area and BBQ facilities. I didn't see any toilets, maybe these will be added at a later date? There isn't any designated parking, so please be mindful of local residents and their properties.

There is also a yoga platform, bocce court (similar to bowls), lakeside boardwalks and a series of tracks with distance markers for runners and walkers, all surrounding the main playground.

There are creative play spaces, fitness and workout zones and passive areas; providing active play for the children and zen zones for the adults. There are also designated spaces for food carts and markets.

This park really is designed to get families outside, exercising and doing activities together. They have combined this with social interaction which promotes a healthy lifestyle. So if you are looking for a relaxing and scenic place to practice yoga, go for a jog/walk, have a family day out or just a couple of hours in the fresh air, look no further than Aviary Creek Park in Aveley, Swan Valley.

There are shops and cafes with public toilets close by at either end of Egerton Drive.
