In the Quest for The Best Indian in Australia - you can't go past Avial Indian Cuisine in Southport.

Best points to note - the owners are from Kerala in India, they love food and they love sharing it with people.

Menu highlights - that you won't find anywhere else:

Idly
Steamed rice cake (naturally fermented rice and urad dhal mixture) served with sambar and coconut chutney

Appam Mutta (Egg) Curry
Fuffy in the middle and crisp on the outside. Appams (hoppers) are made from fermented rice and coconut milk and served with egg curry.

Masala Dosa
A crisp crepe made from rice and urad dhal, filled with spiced potato, served with coconut chutney and sambar

Dosas come in a variety of flavours - basically a tasty bread wrapped around your choice of flavours - be it the Masala one above, or what ever meat you'd like!

Have you ever seen a roast dinner at an Indian restaurant? They have it here!

Travancore Chicken Roast
This is not a roast in the classical sense, but a chicken curry made with roasted spices famous in the Travancore region of Kerela

Their Saagwala (any meat) is another type of amazing - they've actually made a slight tweak on all the old favourites as well - Kormas, Vindaloos - made any type of heat!

The service is great, the food - out of this world and definitely the best Indian GvW has had in a long, long time.

Plenty of parking on Marine Parade - get in a little earlier for dinner as it gets busy & the two brothers that run the place can only cook for so many, at the one time!
