The convention is run by a not for profit group, Team AVCon. They started the event in 2002 and since then, the numbers have grown so much that in 2009, they were forced to move to the Adelaide Convention Centre in order to meet the demand for tickets. In 2011 the number of tickets sold was an astonishing 14,000 with the event growing in popularity every year.
