Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens is proudly hosting its 14th annual Autumn Open Garden Weekend & Plant Fair. This is a special opportunity to explore private gardens rarely open to the public and enjoy a delightful plant fair.

Held on 26 + 27 April 2025, the Autumn Open Garden Weekend showcases the Southern Highlands in all its autumnal beauty - including:

Bibury, home to a heritage-listed house designed by the renowned architect Prof. Leslie Wilkinson, in his influential Mediterranean style. The garden features a central courtyard, recently replanted to complement the architecture, an enormous wisteria-clad pergola, Buxus maze, rose gardens, towering hedges and many fine old trees.

Hattersley Farm - a gorgeous, manicured garden of around 5 acres surrounding a house built in the 1990s adjacent to the Wingecarribee River.

Kunama - a charming large suburban garden of around two acres, which has been developed by the current owner over the last twenty years.

Thenford Lodge - A stunning large park-like country garden, which has been extended and further developed by the owner over the last few years.

Tavistock - a one-acre rural garden recently established around an existing, now renovated house. The garden features a large collection of roses, hydrangeas and perennials utilising the existing trees for structure.

The Plant Fair also returns on the weekend of 26 & 27 April 2025 and features the participation of stallholders from across NSW and Victoria offering collectors plants, trees, perennials and bulbs along with plants from the 'Growing Friends' of the gardens. Garden art, tools and accessories and refreshments are also available.

Tickets are priced as follows:

Weekend ticket to 5 gardens + Plant Fair: $50 pp

Single private garden ticket: $15

Single entry to the plant fair: $10

Group discounts for the 5 private gardens + Plant Fair entry: $48 pp

A group is 10 or more people

FREE entry for children under 16 yrs. No dogs, except assistance dogs, permitted in the private gardens or the plant fair.

All proceeds from the weekend will support the Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens (SHBG).
