Find your favourite film festival in Brizzy this autumn
I know that autumn is my favourite time of year in Brisbane: cooler nights, crisp mornings and perfect, clear-sky days are a winner in anyone's book. I'm just not sure what it is about autumn that has film festivals popping up all over our fair city. Regardless of the reason, over the next couple of months movie lovers of all tastes and genres are well and truly catered for with a host of film festivals large and small. You're sure to find a little cinematic something that will appeal to you from the following list.

1. Film Noir at The Australian Cinémathèque

At this film festival you can enjoy some of those classics of the silver screen that you've always meant to see. Some of the very best examples of the film noir (literally black cinema) genre are showing on the big screen and it will only cost you $10 for a seat — bargain.

Enjoy performances by Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Kirk Douglas, Joseph Cotten, Gene Tierney, and many more screen legends, in movies with snappy one-liners, wise-cracking private eyes, gorgeous femme fatales and humour as dark as the streets on show.

You'll find a few recommendations in my article here or check the QAGOMA website here for the complete program or to book your tickets.

When: From Friday 31 March to Sunday 21 May 2017
Where: GOMA Australian Cinémathèque, South Bank
Cost: Adult: $10, Student/Concession/Child: $8, Members: $7
