When the green trees turn into a symphony of colours you know it is the season when nature turns artist and brings on the brightest palette it has. Mount Wilson in the Blue Mountains is a popular place to see the bright autumn colours.

Mount Wilson is a small village located around 100 kilometres west of Sydney, an easy 2 hour drive. Travelling from Sydney along Bells Line of Road, on taking a right onto Mount Wilson Road, 8 kilometres later comes Mount Wilson.

The Mount Wilson area has more than 20 walks, each of them of varying levels of difficulty something to suit all levels of fitness. Apart from the vast and scenic lookouts, beautiful strolls and tall eucalyptus trees, autumn time turns Mount Wilson into an artist's palette and makes for beautiful scenery all around the village.

Some of the popular places to see the autumn colours are Windyridge garden ($10 entry fee), driving down Wyndham lane or Breenhold Gardens. The road leading to Breenhold Gardens is particularly beautiful with a concoction of red and green leaves. Although any season makes a perfect excuse to visit Mount Wilson, autumn is unmissable. Wander down any of the roads to discover the hidden treasures of Mount Wilson. Tall trees, beautiful colours and just the absence of the city population make Mount Wilson a nature lover's paradise and a photographer's muse.

Public toilets are available in Mount Wilson, however there are no cafes or stores or visitor information centres. It is worth planning the trip to Mount Wilson with plenty of water and food in hand.
