I am a world traveller & a mom of two, (8 & 6). I love to meet people, and am fascinated that there are 7 billion stories out there to be explored. I think Melbourne is the most happening city to live in with all the fun activities around town.

The Dandenong Ranges are hosting the Autumn Authors Festival: a series of events for writers and readers throughout the month of May (2 May to 29 May). Eight well-known authors will delight their audiences during workshop sessions or through sheer entertainment. The events will be hosted in various venues across the Dandenong Ranges. The festival is also sponsoring a writing competition for children (different age groups) as well as adults. The details of the competition can be found at this website.

One of the authors from among the eight is Andy Griffiths, one of Australia's best known and best loved children's authors. His books have sold more than 5 million copies around the world. Andy began his working life as an English teacher and a publisher/editor of educational books and is now the author of more than 20 bestselling titles including the JUST! series, the Bum Trilogy, the BAD books, the Schooling Around series, A&T's Wonderful World of Stupidity, The 13-Storey Treehouse and The 26-Storey Treehouse all illustrated by Terry Denton.

The event will be hosted in the beautiful National Rhododendron Garden, located in Olinda. You can soak in the beauty of rich bark textures, seed capsules, foliage shapes and beautiful fragrance as you stroll through the grounds. Please bring a blanket or a groundsheet to sit on. As part of this children's afternoon, the children will enter a literary world of fun and will be entertained by a performance from the Dreaming Space and Ruccis Circus. They can learn circus skills, write poems under trees, and enjoy storytelling fun. The second half of the afternoon can be spent with Andy Griffiths in his zany storytelling world in Olinda's beautiful Rhododendron Gardens. At the end of the event Andy will be available for book signings. Books are available for purchase on the day.

This afternoon of action packed fun is especially for children aged between 5 and 12 years old.
