Due to forecast severe weather in Adelaide over Fri/Sat we have decided to cancel the ABC Gardeners' market on April 14. While we know this will be disappointing to hear, we did not want to put our staff, charity partner, stall holders and the public at the risk of the forecast severe weather. Thanks for your support, and watch this space for details of our October market. The ABC Gardeners' Market returns on Saturday 14 April at the ABC Adelaide studio grounds. The unique and popular weekend family event has a diverse selection of gardening stalls, food and entertainment.
ABC Radio Adelaide's Weekend presenter Deb Tribe will broadcast Talkback Gardening live with gardening expert Jon Lamb from 8.30am, followed by popular on-air segments About the House with builder Ben Cunningham and the Saturday Quiz. For the first time, sports fans can watch Saturday Grandstanding with Jules Schiller live on stage at 11am, followed by Talkback Gardening Extra with Jon Lamb - returning exclusively for market goers providing helpful gardening advice.
Charity partner St John Ambulance will be debuting their new Community First Aid Training Vehicle, giving everyone the opportunity to participle in CPR and Defibrillator demonstrations. From midday, their impressive 20-piece brass band will entertain the masses with jazzy toe-tapping sounds!
Market goers will be invited to strike a pose and shock their friends with a Casualty Simulation, fake wound and injury application – these realistic and visual make-up effects are used frequently in St John volunteer training programs.
ABC personalities and volunteers will run free scheduled tours of the refurbished ABC building including TV and radio studios from 9am. Visitors are reminded to arrive early and book in to secure their placement. Held twice a year, the ABC Gardeners' Market has raised over $350,000 for South Australian charities since its inception almost 25 years ago. Entry is by gold coin donation with all proceeds collected on the day supporting St John Ambulance.
