The Victor Harbor is a day when all people who love cars, and anything to do with men's stuff in the shed, meet up to buy sell or swap all that junk and take home a whole pile of new junk. But its not all car parts and tyres. There will be a wide variety of goods for sale, including vehicles and motor bikes, spare parts, old wares and collectables, toys, bicycles, camping gear, garden tools and mowers, household goods, and anything else that gets stored in sheds that people not longer want.

The swap meet is organised by the Historic Motor Vehicles Club who are based in Victor Harbor. As part of the day they will hold a large show and shine old vehicle display. You don't have to be a club member to enter, so if you would like to enter your old classic you need to be there by 7am to enter the grounds. Drive on in and give the car a last minute shine, and wait for the judges verdict later that morning. Meanwhile you can wander the swap and have a yarn to fellow car enthusiasts. Trophies will be given to the winners. All those who pay entry to the Swap are encouraged to view the show and shine cars which are always a lot of fun to admire.

If you would like to go have a look around the swap as a buyer, you can enter the the grounds form 7.30 am. Take some smaller notes in your wallet, as not everyone can change those fifty dollar notes, and head off to do some haggling or find that illusive spare part you have been seeking. Note there are two entries points to the oval, one for buyers and one for sellers, so ensure you queue up at the correct one. The one for buyers is the southern one closest to the roundabout at George Plain Road.

If you would like to go along to be a seller, outdoor sites are $15 and limited indoor sites are $20. If you want an indoor one you best call or email to book. You can send an email enquiry for indoor sites or any other information to [email protected]. Otherwise just turn up. Gates open for sellers at 7am. Alternatively sellers can go down to the oval the late afternoon or evening before, set up and camp the night, and sleep overnight on your site. Note no dogs or fires are permitted.

There is plenty of food available for purchase, including a BBQ breakfast, coffee truck and more. If you are thinking of making a day trip from Adelaide you will need to arrive in the morning as most of the action is winding up by lunch time or by around 2 pm. You could then enjoy an afternoon cooling off in Victor or having a refreshing swim. Victor Harbor in summer is delightful and always much cooler than in Adelaide, so this is a perfect time to enjoy this one day event.
