Science works Museum and Playgroup Victoria are coming together in an attempt to create Australia's Biggest Playgroup and try to make their way into The Australian Book of Records!

You are encouraged to come en masse to the next Little Kids Day In at Scienceworks Museum, Monday 3rd August,. Little Kids Day In is an ongoing event that takes place on a monthly basis and is run by Playgroup Victoria. Children aged 6 and under and their parents or carers are going to get the most out of this morning and the record count will be from 10am, so don't be late!

The children will be treated to an array of activities specially designed to encourage learning and development. With hands on activities, performances and Planetarium shows, the children will be entertained thoroughly! You can expect to get crafty, making dinosaur masks and finger puppets, get up close and personal with some real life and replica fossils, recreate sounds with the federation HandBells and shake, rattle and roll in the Big Blue Bathtub with is full of sensory toys.

Coinciding with the centres Tyrannosaurs - Meet The Family exhibit, the theme for this month will be dinosaurs. All children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite prehistoric hero and take part in a range of dinosaur themed activities. Plus there is a chance of seeing real fossils and handling life like replicas of bones, teeth and claws.

Special guest Jurassic Joe will have the kids up and about singing, dancing, laughing and learning about all things dinosaurs! His performance is interactive, educational and fun, having worked with many children across various zoos, museums and schools, he is bound to get them moving.

Playgroup ambassador and best selling author and illustrator, Jeanette Row, will also be in attendance to read to the group about her favourite dinosaurs. Jeanette has sold over 19 million books worldwide in 14 different languages; don't miss this amazing opportunity to meet one of Melbourne's best authors! Her booklist consists of well known preschool books such as the Whose series – Whose Nose? Whose Ears? As well as the smarty Cat series, Dinosauritis series and the My Books Series.

Science works also offers some amazing exhibits which you and the children can indulge in including Alice In Wonderland and Nitty Gritty Super City, all a part of the new interactive displays featured. You can also explore the Tyrannosaurs – Meet The Family exhibition that will show you how the Tyrannosaurs became the most terrifying creature of its time and also learn about the different types of Tyrannosaurs. There is also an opportunity to go beyond our world and see into the outer space in the Planetarium. If you have a budding astronomer or someone who loves the twinkle of the stars, you are sure to find a winner here.

So why not let your children's minds run free with this amazing day all for them whilst helping Playgroup Victoria make it into The Australian Book of Records at the same time! Hope to see you there!

The facility is wheelchair friendly and offers a elaborate outdoor area where the kids can burn off some extra steam they may still have. There is also a playground they can play in too. There is an onsite café and they are always fully stocked with coffee!

As a note: Additional fees will be charged if you wish to explore the Tyrannosaurs - Meet The Family exhibition, Lightening Room show and the Planetarium.
