In short: The Cycling Australia Sprint Team is coming to Perth. If you have no idea who they are, then you just need to remember the Australian Olympic heroin that defeated Britain on their own soil! Yes, that is correct, Anna Meares will be in Perth and everyone who wants to witness what pure speed looks like can see her, and the team in action at the Midvale Speed Dome.

Anna Meares has been cycling for the past 18 years, and her road to 'Speedome' did not start off on a successful note. In fact Anna did not win an event for the first two years of her cycling career. For most kids, they would have given up and tried something different. Luckily for Australia, Anna Meares was born to fight and decided to fight for something she loved doing. Something you can read about in her book she has just release.

Anna Meares announced her retirement after the winning at the Olympics in 2012. She had had over a decade of success mixed with very hard training. And, a break was all she was looking forward to.

However, when you love doing something, it does not take long before you realised that you just don't feel the same person without it. As a result, Anna came out of retirement this year, and to show case what she still can offer cycling, she set a new world record for the 500m Time Trial in Mexico with 32.836 seconds. If you are wondering how fast that is, then you could relate to the fact that she would probably be given a speeding ticket on most roads in and around the City. In my opinion, it would be more cost effective for her to drive a car than to ride a bicycle in town!

The Australian World Sprint Team will be training at the Midvale Speed Dome from 09 February to 18 February 2014. This is an extremely rare occasion for the Speed Team to be training here in Perth giving everyday people to witness world class athletes in action.

Their training times at the Speed Dome are as follows:

Friday 14th Feb - 2pm to 5pm
Sunday 16th Feb - 4pm to 5pm (only a reserve day may not train on this day)

Entrance fees into the Speed Dome is $8.00 with kids age 12 and under FREE! I can assure you that you will be given some major 'brownie points' by treating your kids to an event like this.

While the team is scheduled to train at the Speed Dome, there may be days where they will spend time on areas such as weight training. Therefore, it is advisable to contact the Speed Dome to find out if they are training on the day.

Furthermore, while it is a once in a life time opportunity, please be aware that these athletes are in training. While you are invited to watch, autographs will not be available unless this has been arranged on the day. Persons are not allowed to take video, and this will be monitored through the stands.

These athletes will not have time to talk with any people before, during and after their training session. However, you will be guarantee in witnessing, first hand, what it takes to beat Britain (and other nations) in the Olympics.
