The colourful and spectacular 38th annual will be held in the Victorian rural town of Quambatook on Easter Saturday, 19th April, 2014.

For those not familiar with tractor pulling, it's a motorsport in which modified tractors pull a heavy sledge along a track in competition to see who can pull the sledge the furthest. Tractor pulling has quite a history in Australia going back to the first Australian Tractor Pull at Elmore in Victoria in 1976. Quambatook's tractor pulling history goes back almost as far. It has been acknowledged as the tractor pulling capital of Australia and has its own purpose-built Tractor Pull Complex.

See this video for a taste of the sport of tractor pulling:

The showcase a wide variety of impressive pulling machines both large and small. To understand more about the varieties and capabilities of these machines (tractors, trucks and even mowers), the Australian Tractor Pullers Association site offers detailed information on each of the different pulling classes.

The Championships encompass an afternoon and evening of almost non-stop colour and action with the events starting at 1.30pm and running through until approximately 10.00pm.

Besides all the motorised action, there's something for everyone in the family on the day including:

  • Food Stalls
  • Visit from the Easter Bunny
  • a Country Market
  • Stunt Minibikes
  • Truck Display
  • Carnival Rides
  • Joy Flights

  • It's a good idea to bring along a picnic rug or chairs. There's plenty of food and drink available with a family friendly alcohol free 'dry' zone as well as a designated 'wet' area where you can enjoy a beverage or two from the bar facilities.

    **Cost:

Full Session:** $60 Family, $25 Adult, $10 Children 10-15, Children under 10 Free
Night Session only: $45 Family, $20 Adult, $5 Children 10-15, Children under 10 Free

Note that no Glass, Pets or BYO alcohol are allowed.

    Getting there:

Quambatook is around 300km north-west of Melbourne in the Shire of Gannawarra. If you're travelling a long way you might like to stay overnight in Quambatook or surrounding areas.
