M.Rock is a beautifully crafted exploration of intergenerational relationships, friendship, adventure, and wonderfully challenges preconceptions of age and convention.
Inspired by the true story of Ruth Flowers (grandmother turned DJ Mamy Rock),
M.Rock follows school-leaver Tracey who, before embarking on her nursing degree, is encouraged by her grandmother, Mabel, to go and explore the world. With a round-the-world ticket in hand, Tracey jets off to dance her way through clubs and across continents (remember those days?), while Mabel spends her time playing piano for The Players, knitting, looking after her friend's dog, and resisting her daughter's attempts at locking her up in an old person's home.

The real fun begins when Tracey fails to return home from her travels and forgets to tell anyone of her changed plans. Mabel takes it upon herself to track her granddaughter down, setting off on a quest spanning Sydney, Africa and Berlin. Along the way, Mabel encounters some unlikely characters, turning the quest to find her granddaughter into a life-changing and life-affirming journey where she finds herself.

M.Rock is a wonderful celebration of music, dancing and self-discovery at any age. It brings the generations closer together and reminds us that senior moments matter, as does seizing life with both hands at every stage of life.
This is the ultimate coming-of-old-age story and will be loved by the young (suitable for over 13s) and young-at-heart alike.
