Flowers are beginning to bloom, the sunshine is lovely, and it feels like Spring is certainly here! Yet, in Melbourne, we know it will be a couple of months before we can truly shed the winter jackets ...

Luckily, there's nothing better than a warm cuppa on a chilly day or night, and with so many delicious, home-grown teas to choose from, it's the perfect time to explore some new tea flavours!

Whether you're looking for a pick-me-up in the morning, a balanced brew to sip on throughout the day, or something more soothing at night - there's a native Aussie tea that's perfect for any taste or occasion.

Try these five local teas, blends and tisanes:

1. Lemon Myrtle native chai from the Chai Room - A delicate blend of lemon myrtle with chai spices and single origin black tea, soaked in low GI organic coconut nectar.

2. Wattleseed Sencha green tea from Perfect South – A smooth and comforting green tea, grown in Victoria and blended with roasted wild-harvested wattle seeds.

3. Indigenous herbal tea from Gulbarn – Made from the melaleuca citrolens plant this tea has been used as bush medicine for thousands of years.

4. Olive leaf tea from Stone & Grove - caffeine-free and high in antioxidants; known for their anti-free radical effects, this herbaceous brew can be enjoyed hot or chilled.

5. Kakadu Dreaming sleepy tea from The Rabbit Hole – Jilungin is hand-harvested in the Kimberley region of WA, to create this calming native chamomile blend.

If you love tea as much as I do, follow the Sydney Tea Festival and Melbourne Tea Festival for more yummy teas to try...
