I am a weekend wanderer. There is a great way to spend a weekend and that's visiting the great places we have here in the Hunter. Keep an eye on my facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Wkndwanderer

There are two Shark and Ray Centres in Australia. One is in Melbourne and the second is right here in beautiful Port Stephens.

Located half way between Newcastle and Nelson Bay is the best place to take the whole family to experience up close some of the local Shark and Sting Ray species that can be found in Port Stephens.

You can turn left onto Bob's Farm Road before the Sand Hills on Nelson Bay Road, or if you go through the sand hills you can enter by turning left at the bottom of the sand hills where the old Go Kart place used to be.

For a small price you can jump in the tanks and swim or even feed the sharks. Wow, what an awesome and safe experience for kids as young as 2 years old.

The two centres are the only centres in the world that are dedicated to provide the thrilling experience of feeding a three meter shark or 300 kg sting ray. So this is definately a world exclusive here in our own back yard.

There is also a great educational aspect to the centre where you can learn about these "monsters of the deep" and how to respect them in their own environment.

Sharks and Rays eat all day, seven days a week so you can always be assured of a great thrill. There's no booking required but for opening times or any other enquiries call 02 4982 2476 or see their website.
