Robert Hatcher, a longstanding member of the South Australian Bonsai community and frequent judge at Bonsai competitions, will be conducting a hands-on Masterclass on cultivation of Australian Native Bonsai on Sunday 5 May 2019 from 9.45am – 3pm at Mount Lofty Botanic Garden Nursery. If you can't make it to this class, there is another session on Sunday 27 October 2019 at the same place and time.

This course teaches you the Japanese art of Bonsai, the growing of a tree or plant in a shallow dish, using Australian native plants. You will get to learn about the history of bonsai and the techniques of maintaining your bonsai, including correctly watering it, pruning it and keeping it pest and disease free. Practical activities are involved so participants are required to bring gloves and wear closed footwear. The best part is that you get to take home the Australian Native Bonsai that you have constructed during the class.
