Modellers know good things come in small packages. That is why the Australian Model Expo, now the biggest Model Show in Australia, is being held over a massive 3 days weekend. Everyone has the chance to come see these amazing little creations up close and personal and enter the Open Plastic Model Competition. There are categories for everyone alongside demonstrations, exhibitions, competitions, swaps and sales as part of this very big little event.
Everything from dinosaurs to military vehicles, cars and planes to sci-fi plastic models can be seen at the Sandown Racecourse from Saturday 11th June to Monday 13th June 2016 for the Australia Model Expo. This unique event is an opportunity for fellow modelling enthusiasts to meet, discuss, see what's new, buy, swap or even sell their modelling passion.
Centred around a major event, the Model Expo is THEOpen Plastic Model Competition, with over 60 categories there are sections especially for aircraft, AFV's, cars, trucks, Science Fiction and figures, as well as categories that are as diverse as the modelling kits themselves, including anything and everything you can think of. For people who enjoy sizing up these small models, Sandown is the place to be this June. The competition attracts more than 500 entries, so there's nothing diminutive about this sizeable modelling competition. For seniors, entry into the competition is $5 for the first model, with additional models $3. For juniors and intermediate competitors, the first model is $3 with additional models also $3.
The Model Expo will also feature model retailers and associated traders showcasing the latest and greatest in new model releases and aftermarket goods, as well as an array of other modelling tools and accessories. Traders will include AeroWorks, Hobby HQ, Firestorm, Model Art Australia, Hawkeye Models, Metro Hobbies, Navart, Runway 13 and plenty more. A full listing is available on the Model Expo website.
Model clubs and special interest groups have also been invited to participate in the Expo and will come from all over to Australia to personally meet the enthusiasts.
On the Monday, 13th June, modellers will be able to 'Swap and Sell' their kits. Just bring along your unwanted kit and see if someone is willing to buy or swap for something you'd really like. The Swap & Sell component will happen between 10am and 12noon only and will occur at an adjacent venue. There is a $5 entry fee and this does not include entry to the Model Expo.
