Upon entering the Twinings Public Tea House is chock full of garden party dresses, leafy green decorations and gorgeously decked out tables in pastel colours. I'm here today for the launch of this Twinings Pop-Up Tea House as well as the unveiling of the top four designs for the packaging for Twinings' new Morning Tea brew and there are some pretty big names amongst the competing designers including Nicole Kidman, Carrie Bickmore, Samantha Harris, Erica Packer and Emma Freedman amongst others.

The Tea House itself is fresh, bright and is the perfect spot for a morning pick me up or an afternoon delight. The tables are set with simple, elegant pastel coloured tea cups and white teapots and the room is full of natural light. It's not a huge space, so I'd recommend getting in early to avoid missing your chance to check it out.

As I wait amongst the crowd for the announcement of the top four designs, I am treated to cups of Twinings famous teas and cute breakfast style canapés with chia seeds and fresh berries on top. It certainly feels like an English tea party in here. Then it's time to announce the top four designs, with a lovely introduction given by representatives of Twinings and one of the adjudicators Ashley Dawson-Damer who is also on the judging panel for the Archibald Prize. Both women speak eloquently in front of a backdrop of the ten shortlisted designs on the clean white wall and their passion for using the platform to discuss the linkages between tea, women and art create a real sense of warmth around the room.

The final four are announced and Nicole Kidman, Carrie Bickmore, Samantha Harris and Emma Freedman are announced as the top contenders. Each finalist is unveiled with packages of the Morning Tea blend printed with their design and we are advised that it is now over to Australia to vote for the favourite. Honestly, I think they were all beautiful and suited the aqua coloured box perfectly – the new blend is pretty darn tasty too.

Twinings are running their pop up Public Tea House from 20th - 25th January from 10am-4pm each day. There are free tea sessions running each hour and you can sample the new Morning Tea and peruse the designs while you're there.

So, if you're looking for something to do this weekend AND want to support this amazing venture, you'll find the Twinings Pop Up Tea House at 17 Oxford Street, Paddington. Go on, have a cuppa.
