Hosted by The Australian Ceramics Association the Open Studios event is an exciting, annual, nationwide weekend event that personifies creativity, embraces community and celebrates clay. What's not to love, especially if you adore handmade ceramics. Ceramic studios around Australia will open their doors and let you be privy to the process of making with practical demonstrations and so on.

It's also a great opportunity to meet and converse with the artist the maker, and get yourself a handmade piece to take home. Christmas comes to mind, and there's nothing like saying 'you're special' to someone, with an original work of art that you've taken the time to source.

ACOS (Aust Ceramics Open Studios) will be held on 13 and 14 November 2021, so be sure to check out your creatives in your state. Click here to find those nearest to you, or those you don't mind travelling to because you love their work. See here for the maps (14 images in all) in various states so you know which artists are participating and where they are. You can also find all 14 maps on the WEBSITE .

Take a look at the discussion section of the event page , and meet some of the artists. The Facebook page and Instagram is also the perfect source for more information and to meet your artists before you actually go meet them in person.

There are just too many amazing ceramic artists to mention. You'll find all 14 pages full of them as aforementioned in various states. If you happen to be in Victoria in Melbourne's East, there are 12 amazing potters to visit over the weekend. Visit Mud Makers Trail for artist profiles and download the map to follow the trail. Visit each and every one of them in their studios and you go into a draw to win a beautiful hamper of handcrafted ceramics . How's that for incentive.

If you're in the far north of WA in Port Hedland, you'll find The Courthouse Ceramics Studio in the Pilbara region. Local creators Karren MacClure, Sharon Gosling and Peta Hamer-Cahill will be showing a range of sculptural and functional ceramic works, all available for purchase! If you're in the beautiful Blue Mountains of NSW, wind your way through and stop in at 5 very different studios. Each accomplished artist is ready to answer your clay questions and show you their process. While you're there, pick up some lovely gifts for Christmas! You'll find all these artists and more by following the links to the maps. Meanwhile, visit all the aforementioned links for interesting content about the artists, and go gaga over the images of their beautiful work. Imagine seeing it in person! Do something different and trip around to visit your local.
