Like your pots and fancy throwing one on a wheel or watching others throwing them? Is clay your medium? Know anything about the ancient Japanese Art of raku firing? Come and enjoy an exceptional weekend of "open studios" of some of Northern Queensland's most popular and prestigious ceramicists.
I am copying the map for you so that you can plan your day. Go online and check out what each of them offer on this day. They will be open on the 16th and 17th of August 2014 from 10 am to 4 pm and each one will offer a small programme of activities in their studios in that time. Mollie will offer you a chance to try your hand on the potter's wheel, Ken will talk to you about Japanese techniques of raku firing, Gabi will sculpt an animal using coil building techniques and give you the opportunity to try creating one yourself. Mecki will also offer you the chance to try the potter's wheel while Annette will show you how to create your own serving tray. A lot of the studios are beautiful spaces where you can enjoy looking at some creative pieces, perhaps over a cup of tea or a drink. It makes a fabulous day out and offers a real connection with this fine creative art if this is something that is of interest to you.
I have seen the work of one of these talented potters and here are a few to tempt you.
