An elegant delight
Its usual home, the Festival Centre may be undergoing renovations but that did not deter Artistic Director David McAllister from coming up with a stunningly diverse program for the Australian Ballet's much anticipated annual visit to Adelaide.
This Gala Performance will feature the classic Suite En Blanc by Serge Lifar, a modernistic piece that calls upon the talents of the complete ensemble for its execution.
There will also be excerpts from Don Quixote and Cinderella, plus the exquisite pas de deux from Spartacus, featuring principal dancers Jarryd Madden and Robyn Hendricks - dancing, of course, to Khachaturian's much-loved score.
A highlight will be a preview of Act 1 of next year's Adelaide program offering, The Sleeping Beauty, a new production by David McAllister, which has been wowing eastern state audiences this year.
In a first for the company, they will be performing in arena style at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and it promises to be an exciting innovation, not only for dedicated balletomanes, but also offering an attractive introduction to those who may be enjoying their first experience of classical ballet.
