I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.
Published August 30th 2015
I would best describe the Australian Arts and Gems Gallery as jewellery store, with some Aboriginal art and products also for sale.

The jewellery includes a large selection of handmade silver pieces by Australian designers, using stones like hematite, garnet, carnelian, coral, turquoise and onyx, as well as opals and pearls. All of these have been sourced from Australia and are accompanied by a certificate with purchase.

The store can be found on the Nurse's Walk, which is a historic and largely hidden alleyway in The Rocks between Harrington Street and George Street. Only accessible by pedestrians, there are quite a few stores back here, like Buttons Buttons Buttons, The Crystal Gallery and Australian Alpaca Barn, as well as cafes like Scarlett Restaurant and The Vintage Café on The Rocks.

I have never been to The Rocks but it sounds like an amazing place.

They don’t give you a certificate and I think that the cheaper opals look funny like they are artificial and not even triplets, hence my concerns. What matters is if you like a certain piece of jewellery go for it, but leaves you with a doubt if this is what they claim it is.
