Australian Abstractions is the latest solo exhibition by celebrated photographer and blogger Gary Sauer-Thompson.
This upcoming FREE exhibition is part of the exciting SALA program and will be held at the Centre for Creative Photography from Sunday 26th July to Friday 28th August, 2015.
Australian Abstractions showcases a series of black and white abstractions which are designed to be a stand-in for what we appear to have lost from the archives.
These images see Gary imagine what avant grade photography would have looked like in1950s and 1960s.
It is a unique premise which allows the viewer to reconnect with and build upon the minor tradition of photographic abstraction in Australia.
The images are shot on either medium-format or large-format film and depict both natural and human landscapes.
Come and immerse yourself Australian Abstractions this winter.
Avril Thomas, painter and owner of Magpie Springs gallery, will open the exhibition on Sunday 26th July at 3pm. It will then run until 28th August, 2015.
Gary will participate in an Artist Talk event Saturday 1 August at 2pm.
Entry is FREE.
Gallery hours are as follows: 9am–6pm Monday to Thursday, 9am–5pm Friday and 10am–2pm Saturday.
