Take a light hearted look at the dreary 2016 Australian election. To be honest most of us are sick to death of the campaign and could do with a break from it. Harold Park Hotel is the venue for

Two former prime ministers Tony Abbott played by Jonas Holt and Kevin Rudd played by Nathan Lentern return to explain why they should be running the country. They are joined by such other political luminaries as Christopher Pyne and a senior Trump strategist.

The show opens with Mosman matron Deidre Flick (played by Brent Thorpe ) on talkback radio to Alan Jones. This was a very funny irreverent and risqué segment. Anyone who has listened to 2GB would have heard like minded 'racialists' discussing asylum builders. I loved her pronounciations of Anthony Lebanese and Tanya Pubersec.

The hour long show was a series of skits in the form of interviews interspersed with video footage of previous campaigns and political gaffes.

Umit Bali played a senior Trump strategist with aplomb and he was a great promoter of 'the wall'. Tony Abbott from Waringah (Aboriginal word for safe seat) was back in all his chuckling misogynist glory and if you closed your eyes you would swear that K Rudd was in the room. Nathan Lentern portrayed him & Christopher Pyne to perfection.

The show was fast paced and we were introduced to a variety of characters and facets of Australian politics. There were plenty of laughs a quite a few cringeworthy moments. A larger crowd would have added to the atmosphere and the comics would have been lifted by more audience involvement. All in all it was great fun and the post election show should be interesting.
