Join Australia's biggest national celebration on Australia Day with the City of Perth's annual Skyworks on Monday 26th January 2015 at the Swan River foreshore. 2015's Skyworks theme is 'Love This City', to celebrate our beautiful little city of Perth.



Year after year, crowds in their hundreds of thousands flock to the foreshore through rain, hail or shine to witness Perth's skyline exploding with sound, light and spectacular colours for the annual City of Perth Australia Day fireworks display on the Swan River.

With 2015 marking the 31st anniversary of the Skyworks show, this massive community celebration is jam-packed with a full-day schedule of fun and free activities for the whole family throughout the day, starting from 2pm. The huge program of family-friendly entertainment and events are located at several locations on, around and even above the Swan River, and include the following:

Celebration Zone
2pm-7:30pm, Sir James Mitchell Park, South Perth
Comprised of six activity areas, the Celebration Zone comes complete with over 100 free activities suitable for all ages. Zones include the Toddler & Kids Zone, Challenge Area, Sports Zone, Art Zone, Adrenalin Corner and the Rides Park.

Activities in the Art Zone include paper umbrella decorating, making friendship bracelets, creating sand art cards or making original badges. Lots of physical activity is happening in the other zones, which include the presence of giant bouncy castles, water games, obstacle courses, agility games and other fun challenges that are a first in WA.


Make Smoking History Survival Perth
3pm-7:30pm, Supreme Court Gardens, Riverside Drive
Historically, Survival Day is a national celebration of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities, proudly showcased through dance, art, music, song and food. Everyone can enjoy a variety of traditional and contemporary activities, including a Noongar Welcome to Country, the Flag Raising ceremony and modelling by The Dreamtime Project.

Hosted by the Indigenous Services Australia this year, Survival Day will be headlined by a concert featuring world-renowned iconic artist, Geoffrey 'Gurrumul' Yunupingu alongside a line-up of award-winning national, regional and local Aboriginal talent. In addition to the performers, other activities include rides, water slides, face and body painters, a free community BBQ as well as artist David Neve who will paint a live mural of the event and its Swan River and Perth City backdrop.

City of Perth Air Show
3:30pm-7:45pm, Swan River
Look towards the sky for a stunning aviation entertainment spectacular taking place over the afternoon in the skies above the river. Vintage aircraft, planes flying in formation and helicopters will soar the skies whilst fire bombers demonstrate a water drop amidst pilots performing aerobatics in a variety of aircraft. The Royal Flying Doctor Service will have its aircraft on show, skywriters and skydivers will make an appearance and even the Royal Australian Air Force will perform solo aerobatics.

[SECTION]Langley Park Entertainment Zone[/SECTION]

Entertainment Zone
3pm-8:30pm, Langley Park, Riverside Drive
Every year, Langley Park is a popular location with masses of people enjoying loads of free family fun activities scattered throughout the area. These include a water park, animal farm, free Circus Joseph Ashton performances, motocross displays, free Scitech shows, an Australia Day International Hawker Market and much more. There are several themed areas including:


Sports Arena
Participate in the Handball hut, challenge friends to a Ride Off Challenge or race around an obstacle course. Sumo suits, gladiator challenges, inflatable basketball court, rock climbing wall, bungee joust, go karts and more are set to provide lots of fun.

Toddler Town
A toddler haven for the little ones, which includes bouncers and the playful Bozzie Monster will also make an appearance.

Animal Kingdom
Get close to furry friends of all sizes from rabbits to camels and marvel at displays of animals and reptiles. Enjoy pony rides, camel rides and pet a variety of farm animals, reptiles and even the iconic Aussie favourite, the koala.



Times for each activity are as follows:

Live all day: Sand Sculpture Artists and Sand Installation
Two of the most renowned sand sculpture artists from Brisbane sculpt a uniquely Australian icon, a life size Holden FJ Utility.

3pm - 7.45pm: Amusement Zone
The Kiddie Corner/Amusement Zone is designed for families to have a whole lot of fun. Face painters, balloon artists, an Australia Day craft activity area and a variety of kids rides and bouncy castles will be present to keep the little ones amused.

3pm - 7.45pm: Water Playground
Wet and wild amusements will dominate the area with seven water slides and two inflatable water arenas with monster balls to climb into, float and play with. A dunk tank will also be an attraction!

4.30pm - 5.05pm, 6.30pm – 7.05pm, 7.15pm - 7.50pm: Circus Joseph Ashton
Australia's longest running family circus will be performing shows consisting of trapeze, high wires, wheel of death, clowns and other circus tricks and acts. Additional entertainment will also be running in the big top between circus shows.

4pm - 4.20pm, 5pm - 5.20pm, 6pm - 6.20pm and 7pm - 7.20pm: Freestyle Motocross
Admire and be amazed at demonstration shows where 'extreme action' talents perform backflips, stunts and mind blowing tricks.

3:15pm – 3:45pm, 4pm – 4:30pm, 4:45 – 5:15pm, 5:30 - 6:00pm, 6:15 - 6:45pm, 7pm - 7.45pm: Scitech Live Science Shows and Interactive Exhibit
Participate in exhibits and hands-on workshops and enjoy performances by Scitech. Explore the effects on states of matter at a cool -196 degrees in the 'Supercool' show and use fire, magnets, gravity and other energy forms in 'Endless Energy'. Catch the Scitech guys in the Circus Joseph Ashton Tent.

3.15pm and 5.30pm: The Amazing Mr Jim Children's Entertainer
Watch as The Amazing Mr. Jim provides comedy entertainment suitable for all ages, including Mr Jim's Comedy Magic Show, The Drippy Dragon Ventriloquist Show and Captain Jolly Jim's Pirate Adventure Show within the Circus Joseph Ashton Tent.

3pm - 8pm: Australia Day Hawkers Market
Try cuisines from around the world on Australia Day, representing our diverse cultures. Indonesian satays, Spanish paella, Turkish gozlemes and Moroccan tagines are just a few of the many delights on offer.

3pm to 8pm: Rotary Big BBQ
Sausage sizzles are arguably a firm Aussie icon and the tradition is kept alive and well with the Rotary Club's Big BBQ.

5pm-7:30pm: Water Regatta
Swan River will be home to lots of water action in the late afternoon prior to the fireworks. The schedule is as follows:

5pm-6pm: Funcats
5pm-7pm: The Royal Life Saving Society's Pond-Toon and Duck Pluck raffle
6pm-7pm: Wooden Boat Display (along Riverside Drive)
7pm-7:30pm: WA Show Ski Team with a skilled and colourful exhibition of skiers (along South Perth channel)

8pm-8:30pm: Laser and Water Spectacular
Viewable from Langley Park, this dazzling laser and water show is choreographed to the fireworks display over the river. Coloured lasers will project beams in time with fountains spraying jets of water to create a vivid light and colour show.


8pm-8:30pm: Skyworks Display
Running synchronously to the Laser and Water Show is the much anticipated Skyworks fireworks finale, a spectacular explosive display of sound, light and colour in WA's largest annual celebration.

Visitors are able to bring their own picnics however there are designated BYO Picnic Zones. The City of Perth Skyworks event is an alcohol-free event, however limited alcohol can be consumed in specific zones between 6:30pm to 8:45pm. Getting to the event
A number of bus services will deviate from their usual route due to road closures on the day. For details on specific Transperth services operating on Australia Day, visit the Transperth website or visit the City of Perth website for information on getting to the Skyworks show.

Parking options
The City of Perth has introduced a special flat rate of $10 for several carparks for Skyworks 2015. For information related to parking, visit the website here .
